About Hoda Nicholas

Hoda Nicholas is a Canadian artist born in Cairo, Egypt, and currently based in Newmarket, Ontario. Her artistic journey began early, shaped by a deep appreciation for beauty, creativity, and the expressive power of art. Although formally trained in architecture, her natural inclination toward fine art ultimately guided her path. She is self-taught and works primarily in oil, drawn to the medium for its richness, depth, and timeless quality.

In 2008, Hoda attended a local art school where her commitment to painting was firmly established. She continued to refine her practice through workshops, books, and independent study, allowing her artistic voice to evolve organically. After a successful corporate career, she made the decisive shift in 2016 to pursue art professionally, dedicating herself fully to studio work and exhibitions.

Inspired by Canadian landscapes and florals, Hoda’s work explores light, movement, and emotion through bold color palettes and expressive brushwork. Her paintings are not intended to simply depict nature, but to capture moments of wonder and beauty that are often overlooked in the rush of daily life. Through her art, she invites viewers to slow down, to truly see, and to reconnect with a sense of peace, joy, and presence.

Rooted in the belief that art is a universal language, Hoda’s work communicates feeling, memory, and meaning beyond words. Creating is both her calling and her purpose—an essential act that nourishes her spirit and reflects her belief in beauty as something sacred and uplifting.

Her work has been collected privately in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Holland, and Egypt. Through her paintings, Hoda seeks to offer moments of contemplation and joy—works that resonate quietly, endure over time, and bring a lasting sense of calm and hope into the spaces they inhabit.

Her paintings serve as gentle reminders to pause, breathe, and notice the beauty that surrounds us.
